I just found out he’s leaving Skillet…I can’t even believe it! I am SOOOOO sad!! He has been such a huge part of the band and one of the many reasons that I love it! Not even just because he is an amazing guitar player either. He has added so much more than his guitar skills. He stays close with the fans, provides us with all the extra little goodies like podcasts, remixes, updates, etc! Skillet is an incredible band already but Ben added all the little things that makes the band unique and special! I remember thinking that if Ben ever left the band, it would be soooo different and weird cause he does SO much for the band! It really won’t be the same without him! I’ve been listening to Skillet for 8 long years but it was only a couple years ago that I really started getting to know them more as people than just a band with great music. I started really following them shortly after Lori left and Jen had joined and I remember thinking how glad I was that I hadn’t really gotten to know Skillet before cause I knew I would have been crushed when Lori left and I was glad not to have had to go through that. I began thinking if one of them left again and how heartbroken I would be considering how attached I had gotten to them. Sadly the day that I dreaded has come and it’s as sad as I thought it would be! The band has done such a great job at treating the fans like friends rather than just fans so now I feel as though they are my friends and I’m losing one. But I am so glad that Ben has stayed for as long as he has and I’m sure this isn’t the last we will hear of him! He is going off to do some more great things with his life and he will be doing other things that he loves which I am so glad for! Skillet has been able to successfully replace members with other incredible people, Ben being one of them and I really hope that God blesses them with someone that is worthy of Ben’s place.
